Bruxism (teeth grinding) affects over half of the population and can be debilitating for many. However, despite being prevalent throughout the UK and worryingly on the rise, bruxism often remains overlooked and underdiagnosed. Whilst, for some, teeth grinding doesn’t cause any serious symptoms, for many, the side effects are painful and persistent, and include headaches, migraine on waking and painful jaw joints.
We offer a simple and cost-effective solution for teeth grinding called the Sleep Clench Inhibitor (SCI).
In a clinical trial, 82% of SCI users experienced a 77% reduction in migraine events, with no medical side effects.
How does it work?
During sleep, we clench our teeth. For many, clenching and grinding causes a migraine or tension-type headaches as well as grinding away and damaging teeth. The SCI reduces clenching by not allowing the canine or back teeth to touch. This reduces the force of muscle contractions in the head and face. It’s the Intense muscle activity during clenching that can cause headaches and migraines.
To understand how the SCI works, simply touch the muscles of your temples while biting down on a pencil with the back teeth as hard as possible. The temporal muscles will bulge and intensely contract. When you bite down on a pencil, with only the front teeth, the temporal muscles remain relaxed
